Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Military Members to White House
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Devastating Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their memory.
White House Call
The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Community Response
Attendees gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to support public safety in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”
Service plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Measures and Government Changes
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy prompted the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to holders of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general informed the program that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Impact of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
