From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
